People’s History of East Lawrence Walking Tour, an opportunity for our community to co-create and deepen their understanding of the history, stories and places that have shaped Lawrence through a focus on lesser known stories. Centering voices of witnesses, their descendants, marginalized peoples and local historians. The tour has fifteen stops in East Lawrence, each with particular social, cultural or historical importance. The tour is funded by Freedom’s Frontier. 

This is a self guided tour. The East Lawrence neighborhood sidewalks have: cracked or uneven concrete, some have steps, uneven brick, and missing sidewalks. Explore with caution!

Maps are available for free from August 24th to September 28th at the Murphy-Bromelsick House at the corner of 10th & Delaware in Hobbs Park, Lawrence KS and on our website (see image below).
